250 MS/s PCI Digitizer Breaks Price Barrier - Offers Dual Port Memory
Montreal, Canada (April 3, 2006) - AlazarTech, a manufacturer of high performance, low cost PC Based Instruments, today announced the release of ATS860, a new, low cost family of 250 MS/s, 8 bit PCI waveform digitizers designed for OEMs.

Acquisition memory on board the ATS860 can optionally be converted to Dual Port Memory for applications in which acquisition cannot be stopped during data transfer to PC memory.  This dual port memory feature is not found on any other waveform digitizer available on the market.

ATS860 provides two simultaneous analog inputs that can each be sampled at rates up to 250 MS/s (one ADC per channel).  Each channel can have up to 256 Megabytes of on-board acquisition memory buffer.  The unit occupies only one half-length PCI slot.

"While there are many 250 MHz digitizers available on the market, almost all of them are too expensive and too bulky to be embedded into ultrasonic test equipment" stated Muneeb Khalid, President of AlazarTech.  "Our OEM customers challenged us to break the $2000 price barrier and we did it by utilizing novel design techniques and by building upon our existing unique technology".

ATS860 PCI digitizers use FPGA-based digital electronics for control and data processing.  AlazarTech's proprietary HyperDisP display technology allows the full 256 Megabyte long record to be displayed on a computer screen in a matter of seconds - an improvement of many orders of magnitude compared to the competition.

The on-board FPGA can also be customized for OEMs.  Customization can include simple control functions, such as extra triggers or trigger enables, simple mathematical functions, such as averaging, and even complex DSP functions such as FIR filters, demodulation and FFT.

OEMs can integrate the ATS860 PCI digitizers into their own systems very easily using Windows XP/2000/98SE compatible ATS-SDK Software Development Kit.  This SDK includes sample programs written in C/C++ and VisualBASIC.  A high performance LabVIEW VI, called ATS-VI, is also available.  A Linux driver, ATS-Linux, is also available and supports kernel version up to 2.6.

AlazarTech, headquartered in Montreal, Canada, provides high performance, low cost PC Based Instruments and software for customers involved in building OEM products, manufacturing test systems and research and development.

AlazarTech was founded in 2003 by Muneeb Khalid, who was the original founder of Gage Applied Sciences Inc., a pioneer in PC Based Instrumentation.  That company was sold to Tektronix Inc. in 2000.

While AlazarTech manufactures some of the fastest PCI digitizers on the market, speed alone is not the only differentiating factor.  AlazarTech concentrates on providing usability features for its PCI digitizers that make them very easy to integrate into real-world OEM applications such as ultrasonic testing, medical imaging and radar signal analysis.

AlazarTech also works with selected OEMs to customize its products based on customer requirements.

The company's line of ATS PCI digitizers have been recognized by leading European, Asian and North American OEMs as being superior in quality to other devices on the market.

The company's products have found applications in industries such as medical imaging, metal inspection, automotive and semiconductor test.

AlazarTech sells its products directly in North America, and internationally through a distribution network.
